One of the sections turns it's attention to the subject of black and white photography. In particular, it is regarding converting a color photography to black and white.
I recalled these photographs that I had taken with my "point and shoot" of Carol back in April and thought I would see if I could create anything from one of those.
Here is the result. I am pleased for my first shot at this medium. Of course it doesn't hurt to have a beautiful subject.
Normally black and white photography is rather flat to look at. This photograph sparkles.
As we were leaving I noticed this beautiful flower growing from one of the cactus in our front yard! I will never cease to be amazed with the beauty that these scraggly cactus can muster up in the spring.
Here is another shot of the cactus from farther back.
As you can probably tell, I have really been enjoying my journey to becoming a world class digital photographer. I am just a beginner, but I am pleased with some of the photographs that I have created so far.
You can view a slide show of some of my favorite creations by clicking here.
I hope you enjoy and please give me some feedback!
This morning we ventured to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. The cactus, for the most part, are not in bloom yet. However, we were richly rewarded with the opportunity to photography butterflies at the butterfly exhibit.
Wow! The colors that I found in there. I have over 100 amazing photographs to sort through.
Click the photograph to come over to my flickr site. I will be adding lots of cool photographs over the next few days.
I don't know about you, but I think these are my most beautiful photographs yet. I was VERY excited to see all this beautiful color in my lens as I was taking them.
Spring is clearly on the way here in the High Sonoran Desert (I took this photo this morning outside the front door). Things take a little longer to bloom here than down in Phoenix which is 1,000 feet lower than we are. We had a large amount a rain last weekend (about 1 inch) and now the flowers and trees are beginning to pop in the warming weather.
The temperature when we awoke this morning was 55 degrees and the expected high today is 85 degrees. Just perfect.
The work on the fireplace and cook top in our patio area is really coming along. I will show you more photographs once they get the stone in place.
It appears as though one good sneeze could create an avalanche of boulders around your head. If you look at the enlarged photograph you can see that they actually incorporated one of the boulders right in the structure of their home.
We are sure loving Arizona. It is fun to have good friends visit as well.
This week was spent with our good friends Bob and Karen Schroeder from Okemos, Michigan. Each year they rent a condo, right on the ocean and this is our second year to visit them during their month stay in March.
This particular week was one filled with clouds. We only had one day that was spectacular and you can see a few of my photographs here.
This morning, we awoke to amazing surf in the ocean out front of our condo. Evidently the waves were ferocious during the night as the path was completely washed away with lava rock and coral from the ocean.
As we proceeded further down the path, for the morning walk, we came across a whole crowd of locals watching the few brave souls who would challenge these waves. My guess is that the waves were 15 to 20 feet and had a certain fury about them.
This was truly an awesome display for our last day in paradise. Thanks Bob and Karen for your hospitality.
