Carol and I were out with Jerry and Jessica yesterday exploring the Apache Trail. It was an amazing adventure and by the end of the day our senses were full of majesty.
Here is a link to a slide show of a few of our memories. If you click on each of the photographs in the slide show you will also find my corresponding text.
I hope you enjoy. Have a great summer.
As we were leaving I noticed this beautiful flower growing from one of the cactus in our front yard! I will never cease to be amazed with the beauty that these scraggly cactus can muster up in the spring.
Here is another shot of the cactus from farther back.
So Carol hopped on the Internet and found us a fabulous deal on an incredible resort in the foothills of Tucson called Loew's Ventana Canyon Resort.
Last night we dined in Tucson's only 5 diamond restaurant, right here in the hotel, called the Ventana Room. From the minute we walked in the door it was magic. The food was incredible, the view of the Tucson lights in the valley magic, and the experience left us with a very special memory.
This morning we ventured off to drive up Mount Lemmon which was only about 8 miles from our hotel. This was an incredibly scenic drive. You can watch a slide show of some of the photographs by clicking right here. Just click on any of the photographs in the slide show to get a detailed description of the photo.
Late afternoon found me in the hotel room playing with my photographs from this morning and Carol was out lounging by the pool. She just walked in the room and said that there were TWO SNAKES at the pool. Evidently one of them was swimming in the pool and created quite a commotion! Holy crap batman!
In the past month we have been in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and Michigan.
Our bodies are completely unsure of what time zone we are in.
One of the things we have noticed is that the Ocotillo have come to life. During most of the year, this plant looks like dead sticks coming out of the ground.
However, in the spring, they come alive and grow green leaves all up and down the sticks and the ends blaze with beautiful red flowers that make a beautiful contrast against the blue of the sky.
The desert is in bloom and far more beautiful than I had expected. More to come in the next few days.
As you can probably tell, I have really been enjoying my journey to becoming a world class digital photographer. I am just a beginner, but I am pleased with some of the photographs that I have created so far.
You can view a slide show of some of my favorite creations by clicking here.
I hope you enjoy and please give me some feedback!
Spring is clearly on the way here in the High Sonoran Desert (I took this photo this morning outside the front door). Things take a little longer to bloom here than down in Phoenix which is 1,000 feet lower than we are. We had a large amount a rain last weekend (about 1 inch) and now the flowers and trees are beginning to pop in the warming weather.
The temperature when we awoke this morning was 55 degrees and the expected high today is 85 degrees. Just perfect.
The work on the fireplace and cook top in our patio area is really coming along. I will show you more photographs once they get the stone in place.
Yesterday, while driving through our community after my workout, I noticed that a few flowers were beginning to show their colorful faces.
Flowers in February, how cool is that?
I poked around our yard this morning and found this delicate beauty dancing in the sunlight.
I have no idea what this is?
Who can tell me what this first flower of spring is?
